Family Worker

At Pendragon Primary School, we understand that children learn better, when families, schools and children work together.  We have a dedicated Family Worker, Mrs Smith, who can provide emotional support, guidance and encouragement to both children and families at school.  Mrs Smith can support you, without judgement, and signpost you to the most relevant agency.

We work with an open-door policy and encourage families to come in for an informal conversation when support is required. You are also encouraged to email Familyworker@pendragon.cambs.sch.uk or phone the school office on 01480 830267 if you would like to have a chat with Mrs Smith, to arrange an appointment time in a safe and private space.

Mrs Smith can signpost you to multiple outside agencies to establish the very best support for you and your children. If you have concerns or are experiencing any personal difficulties, sharing these concerns can often help.

What does a Family Worker do?

A Family Support Worker is able to offer impartial support, advice and guidance to parents/carers.
Advice and support is confidential, although concerns relating to the safeguarding of children will always be dealt with in accordance to the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
We may not have all the answers, but hopefully, we can work together to find them!

Support for families includes:

Advice and support in promoting positive behaviour at home

Attendance concerns and working with families to support these

Liaising with a range of external services

Providing information on services available in the local area

Supporting with any paperwork or online forms eg Free School meals/pupil premium

Signposting to relevant agencies and supporting networks

Giving parents/carers time to talk to express any concerns they may have

Support for pupils includes:

Promoting good attendance and punctuality

Promoting self-esteem and confidence

Promoting positive behaviour and positive attitudes to learning

Providing personal, social and emotional support to children.

Coffee Mornings at Pendragon

Our coffee mornings will be a way for parents to be able to connect with each other, have a informal chat to staff who are present and have some time to talk to other families away from the school playground.

I will be offering coffee mornings regularly; some may have a key focus (and this will be on the posters sent out) and others just a general coffee morning, with tea, coffee and biscuits available.

It will be lovely to see you there!
